Erik Oelelein Photography

Collage Productions will be helping to present an exhibition of the photography of Erik Oefelein. It is a collection of photography from in and around The Heartland Cafe and No Exit Cafe..

For a period of over twenty-five years, Erik Oefelein chronicled the poetry and social scene of Rogers Park in a number of photographs which capture a unique sense of the people and lifestyle surrounding these two no longer existing alternative cultural centers. His photos represent a distinctive time and place, as well as an elusive, transitional stage of the neighborhood.

Following the opening of the exhibit the photographs will be on display throughout the month of October. After the public display of Erik Oefelein’s work, a digital archive of his photography will be created by The Rogers Park/West Ridge Historical Society.

Location – The Teal Room of Pub 626

Pub 626 is located at the intersection of Glenwood and Morse Avenues. The opening will be between 2:00 and 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 29th, 2019.

  1. Billy Tuggle says:

The hosts of In One Ear sure would love to attend. As the venue is a pub, we have underaged children and are concerned if they, too, will be able to attend.

  2. Pete "Wolf" Winninger says:

I own and coordinate the In One Ear open mic which has been operating in the 626 zip code for 30+ years, first at the No Exit Cafe, then at the Heartland, and most recently at Flatts and Sharpe on Sheridan. Erik was a member of the In One Ear community and my staff photographer for well over 20yrs. A lot of these images are from my show. I have see no mention of the In One Ear in any of these press releases. Erik was a good friend of mine, of the show, and I know for a fact he would not want that to be the case.
